The EYSEND Partnership

The Council for Disabled Children is working with five partners and nine English regions to provide significant support on SEN and disability to early years settings and local authorities. CDC is delighted to be working with nasen, I CAN, The Communication Trust, Contact and Dingley's Promise on this programme.

nasen (National Association of Special Educational Needs) is a charity organisation who have been operating since 1992. nasen is a membership organisation who support thousands of practitioners by providing relevant information, training and resources to enable staff to meet all pupils’ needs. Working with dedicated education professionals, their aim is to ensure that practice for special and additional needs is both effective and current.

For more information about how nasen can support you and your setting, please visit www.nasen.org.uk

I CAN is the children's communication charity. The charity specialises in helping children develop the speech, language and communication skills they need to thrive in a 21st- century world.

Children and young people can fail to reach their potential because communication difficulties are not visible, often mistaken for something else or not noticed at all. I CAN's mission is that no child should be left out or left behind because of a difficulty speaking or understanding.

For more information about I CAN, please visit www.ican.org.uk

Contact is a charity for families with disabled children. They understand that life with a disabled child brings unique challenges, and we exist to help families feel valued, supported, confident and informed.

To make that happen, they work in three closely linked ways. They support families with the best possible guidance and information.  They bring families together in local groups and online, to support each other by sharing experiences and advice. And they help families to campaign, volunteer, fundraise and shape local services to improve life for themselves and others.

The Communication Trust is a coalition of over 50 not-for-profit organisations.

Working together they support everyone who works with children and young people in England to support their speech, language and communication.

Their work focuses on supporting children and young people who struggle to communicate because they have speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) as well as supporting all children and young people to communicate to the best of their ability.

They do this because their ability to communicate affects us in every aspect of our lives. Many children could be helped to communicate better and some children need really focused support to reach their full potential. No child or young person should be denied that opportunity.
