Written by Short Breaks NetworkDate 12 Sep 2012

This resource is a Better Breaks journal from September 2012 and looks at putting families first working to support their aspirations. It is helpful to parents, carers and health, social care and education practitioners as it considers the process from tick boxes to commissioning, the development of parent carer participation and short breaks and parent carer involvement.

In this resource the Local Authority and Parent Forum in Redbridge, London are mentioned as a case study and following this giving families a voice and discussions around partnership working between Norfolk County Council’s Children with Disabilities service and local Parent Carer Forum are discussed. Also are why children with highly complex needs need short breaks too and the developments in parental involvement for the care of children with complex health care needs.
