The Council for Disabled Children ran a social media week on 8th April 2019. They wanted to encourage young people to share their views and get a discussion started on their right to participate in decision making. This particular social media week focused on rights; specifically, why young people think rights are important. Disabled young people face more barriers than non-disabled young people, and as such they have more rights to better equip them to fully participate in society. We wanted to get a discussion generated by young people on why they think it is important they have and can use rights effectively!
Below is a session plan that includes suggestions for you to engage your group with. Please feel free to adapt it to suit your groups needs and interests.
