Written by Healthwatch EnglandDate 11 Dec 2014

An overview of the network and the role of Healthwatch England.

These resources are a set of briefings written for those working within the children and young people's sector and include information on the role of Healthwatch England and the role of local Healthwatch with regards to children and young people.

Healthwatch England and local Healthwatch were established to champion the views and experiences of people, including children and young people who use, or require, health and social care services. Through their statutory functions they find out whether services are meeting the needs, demands and aspirations of children and young people, and whether children and young people are able to claim their rights and entitlements that they need to live healthy and independent lives.

At the national level Healthwatch England use this information to shape national decisions on children and young people’s health and social care. At a local level 148 local Healthwatch make sure that children’s and young people’s voices are heard by local policy makers, commissioners and providers.

These resources are ideal for professionals wanting to know more about the work of Healthwatch across the sector.
