Short breaks and personal budgets

In this article by barrister, Steve Broach, he talks about the legal landscape in short break services and personal budgets.

A Personal Budget is an amount of money identified by the public body to deliver agreed provision and are particularly relevant to children and young people who have Education, Health and Care Plans.

Where local authorities or NHS bodies are responsible for meeting a disabled child or young person’s needs for short breaks, this responsibility is now often discharged through a Personal Budget. The purpose of Personal Budgets is to achieve greater choice and control over provision for disabled children, young people and families.
