Ofsted and CQC have been publishing local area SEND inspection outcome letters.
Local areas are being inspected on how well they are implementing SEND duties in the Children and Families Act 2014. They will be inspected on three key aspects of implementation: the effectiveness of their arrangements for:
- The identification of children and young people who have SEND
- Assessing and meeting the needs of children and young people who have SEND
- Improving outcomes for children and young people who have SEND
Where there is improved join-up between services and agencies, we can see significant benefits particularly to the early identification and meeting of needs. We want to see improved cross-sector working in areas such as joint commissioning and the EHC assessment and planning process.
