The Department for Health and Social Care has formally confirmed that it will not be able to meet the April 2022 date to implement the Liberty Protection Safeguards (LPS). The department now focusses on launching its public consultation on the draft regulations and draft Code of Practice for the Mental Capacity Act (MCA) and the LPS, which has been delayed due to the pandemic. They aim to launch early in the new year.
