Making Participation Work

1. Scoping work on children and young people’s participation to build a clear picture of the breadth and depth of local area engagement.  
2. Raising awareness about and enabling children and young people’s participation through our resources, digital engagement and joint working across projects.  
3. Workforce development through providing expertise, learning events and examples of good practice.  
4. Bringing participation and engagement practitioners together to join up participation practice across England.  
5. Embedding youth voice strategically through:

• Creating opportunities for children and young people to engage directly with national decision-makers.
• The development and management of FLARE, a national young people's group that advises Department for Education. 
• Delivering an annual children and young people’s conference, Youth Voice Matters.  
• The development of a structure for children and young people not engaging in advisory groups to share their experiences and opinions with national leader.  
• Supporting children and young people to share their experiences in their own words. For example, in the Our Turn to Talk podcast series, by leading workshops, co-delivering training, and social media ‘take overs’.
