Information, Advice and Support provider
Merton SEND Information, Advice and Support Service (MIASS)
Description of service
MIASS provides free impartial support, advice and training to children, young people, parents and carers of children with additional needs and those at risk of exclusion. It is jointly commissioned to provide this service by both Merton Council and the NHS.
We aim to help children, young people, parents and carers to be able to participate and make informed choices. We can provide children, young people and parents and carers with practical support in terms of attendance at meetings, assistance in writing representations, school visits and local disagreement resolution. We also run drop in sessions which are advertised on our website below.
The Service works closely with schools, local voluntary groups and the local authority to help develop positive relationships with parents and carers and in so doing reduce exclusion, raise pupil achievement and parental confidence.
