How it works
Credo Care Fostering is an independent fostering provider specialising in the care of children with disabilities, complex medical needs and life limiting conditions.
Established in 2000, the agency works with local authorities across the country to provide stable, professional, long-term foster placements for children with additional needs.
The goal is to raise the standards of disability care for children, reduce the financial burden of long-term residential and hospice care on local authorities, and to ensure becoming foster carers is a positive experience.
The organisation operates across the South, Midlands, Northwest and Eastern regions of the UK and has been awarded the Ofsted status of "Good" in 2023. They were also the first fostering provider in the UK to gain the National Autistic Society’s accreditation and remain a leader in the field of specialist disability fostering.

Paving The Way: Credo Care Fostering’s Impact on Palliative Care
A remarkable fostering agency has been quietly altering the landscape of foster care for a quarter of a century. Credo Care Fostering, a specialist in providing foster care placements to disabled children, stands as a beacon of hope for young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions. As it gears up to celebrate its 25th anniversary, the agency reflects on its journey and growing role in providing palliative care to children.
The numbers tell a poignant story. Credo Care Fostering has never before encountered such a significant number of children requiring palliative care as an alternative to residential, hospital or hospice care, when they cannot live with their birth family. This surge has placed the agency at the forefront of a challenging yet rewarding mission. The agency's commitment to offering the highest quality of family based foster care remains unwavering, even as the challenges intensify.
The Managing Director Richard Powell said at the heart of the agency, is their incredible foster families who epitomise resilience and strength and a commitment to the children. He feels proud to be part of an agency that transforms challenge and at times sorrow into memories of joy.
These families open not just their homes, but their hearts, to children whose needs extend beyond the usual. They become the pillars of support, navigating the complexities of high medical care while ensuring that every moment is cherished. Credo Care Fostering's ensures a comprehensive support structure for all involved supported with training and resources to empower foster families with the specialist skills and confidence they need.
Support groups provide a platform for sharing experiences and solutions with time off planned with support workers helping in or outside the home with respite where children temporarily live with other Credo Care foster family. The agency stands as a constant companion in this demanding journey, never faltering in its dedication.
As Credo Care Fostering looks forward to its 25th anniversary, plans are underway to raise awareness of palliative care in fostering and continue advocating for children with disabilities.
The goal is clear: to ensure that every child, regardless of their condition or diagnosis, receives the love, care and dignity they deserve. As they prepare to mark a milestone, they do so with an eye firmly fixed on the future — a future where every child's life, no matter how brief, is filled with love and care.
