Young People with SEN in the Secure Estate
More
Working across the sector we bring together the best in policy and practice.
Education policies are not always developed with disabled children and and young people and those with SEN in mind. We seek to influence the development of policies so that they include the people who are affected by them. Where policies do not work for them we influence education policy in a number of ways. We provide advice to the Department for Education and, when proposals are before Parliament, we brief Members of Parliament and the House of Lords.
We work with policies that have already been developed, whether through legislation or guidance, and we support professionals, parents, carers, children and young people in understanding what it means for them. We work closely with colleagues with expertise in participation and in preparation for adulthood to ensure that policies are responsive to children and young people.
