Making Participation Work supports culture change to embed the voices of children and young people in local authorities by supporting local practitioner development through strategic workshops. This delivery supports local areas to develop their strategic participation and facilitates conversations in local areas by bringing together a range of local area staff and parent carers in one space.
Feedback from the local area highlighted the importance of the work done by Council for Disabled Children:
‘The workshops attracted multi-agency staff and were a catalyst for action. This led to a greater understanding of what is already happening and where the gaps are. We are now in a good position to co-produce our Joint Participation Strategy.’
- Local area Senior Adviser for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
Alongside local area targeted support, Council for Disabled Children hosts supra-regional conferences designed to develop practitioner development on a rage of participation and co-production related topics.
