‘Your Rights, Your Future’ is an interactive training session designed for any practitioner working with children and young people on the SEND reforms.
Developed by the CDC participation team, Making Ourselves Heard and in partnership with disabled young people, the training will help you to help children and young people understand the changes to SEND law and their right to be involved in decisions about their support. The training focuses on four key areas prioritised by young people:
- Education, Health and Care Plans
- Post-16 decision-making
- the Local Offer
- Personal Budgets
With the option to download or purchase these resources, there is scope to deliver these either as a one-day session or break it up into smaller sessions, with the guides and activities allowing children and young people to explore what they are entitled to by law through the reforms.
Alternatively, we are able to deliver this training in a number of different ways for either your school, college or group, which will include a member of our staff visiting, delivering the session with the group, and answering any questions they may have. As part of the training we would be able to bring along the resources, already printed, and finished to high specifications, allowing individual packs for all groups.
