Edward Timpson MP and the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Children and Families wrote a letter about the developments of SEND. He mentions that in the 6 months since the Children and Families Act 2014 was passed there is a need for requires significant cultural and procedural changes. In his letter he highlights 3 developments:
- Supported internships and employment for young people with SEND
- Support Offer
- Accountability arrangements
He discusses the importance of building strong relationships with employers to secure more work experience and supported internships opportunities for young people with special educational needs. He also mentions the role of Parents and Local Authorities and what support they will receive such as a free, national helpline and e-mail and website support.
