The Multi-Agency Planning and Improvement Tool (MAPIT) supports service improvement for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities and their families. It allows multi-agencies, including schools and service users to identify service development priorities and track progress over time. This MAPIT contributes to the joint planning, development and commissioning of services through the introduction of two key ingredients for service improvement; an Early Support approach to working in partnership with people who use services and key working.
This MAPIT resource looks at the operational and strategic improvement by encouraging people to:
- Reflect on how services for families and children are currently provided
- Acknowledge existing good practice
- Provide evidence when Principle into action statements are reflected in current practice
- Identify gaps, priorities and next steps.
