The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence have developed a guideline which covers services for children, young people and adults with a learning disability and behaviour that challenges. The guideline aims to promote a lifelong approach to supporting people and their families and carers, focusing on prevention and early intervention and minimising inpatient admissions.
The guideline is designed for commissioners, providers and practitioners in health and social care services for children, young people and adults. A range of recommendations are included on; early intervention, housing, strategic planning, enabling person-centred care and support, carers' breaks services and staff skills and values.
