Shared support

Shared Support is our monthly peer-led virtual discussion group where participation and co-production practitioners can get together to share our collective expertise and ask questions on that month’s topic.

Shared Support is part of the Making Participation Work programme, and the informal get-togethers aim to strengthen participation and co-production by sharing our learning.

We have received great feedback about our coffee mornings including:

  •  ‘It was my first session and it exceeded my expectations, the variety of people’s roles in our break out group was great’
  • ‘It is a brilliant forum for sharing resources and ideas
  • ‘It is good to hear other people’s experiences’
  • ‘Great opportunity to meet new practitioners’
  • ‘Open and supportive’

Previous discussions have focussed on:

  • How to engage children and young people in responses to policy, and public events
  • Virtual forums and groups, particularly how to set them up and how to recruit participants
  • Effective participation strategies for strong youth services
  • Ways to extend digital engagement to children and young people who may not traditionally engage online, or who are unable to easily access digital tools
  • Safeguarding and risk assessments in the online setting
