We are the only UK charity specifically focused on the needs of children, young people and adults with severe learning disabilities whose behaviour may be described as challenging, and their families.
All that The CBF does aims to improve the life opportunities and quality of life for children and adults with severe learning disabilities and their families. We believe the best way to do that is by working together, investing in families and taking action to uphold people’s rights.
There are three closely interconnected strands to The CBF’s work which together effect change at an individual and strategic level. We support, equip, and empower families through our individual information and support work, learning from this informs our strategic influencing work to drive change nationally, and informs the development and sharing of best practice to inform local and national service and support development and delivery. These integrated strands of work tackle discrimination, marginalisation and the root causes and barriers that create problems for this disadvantaged and vulnerable group.
