FACE is an Essex based, parent-led organisation representing parents and carers of disabled children and young people.
Membership of FACE is free and gives access to current information and the chance to contribute to focus groups and consultations and to become more involved in any way that suits you and your family.
FACE offer many excellent services to its members, including;
Short breaks - FACE have worked in promoting Short Breaks Funding to providers, being present at all of the evaluation panels , ensuring the opportunities funded have been promoted among families.
Child Care (DCATCH) - An enhanced training package course was put together and offered to child care providers, a DVD was made by parents for parents, an information booklet was written by parents for parents.
Transition - FACE have worked with the TPS (Transition Pathway Service) to write their new TPS Protocol, to assist in putting together an editorial focus group, write a Transition Guide for families ensuring the content meets need and is written in a way which families can understand and follow.
Play spaces - FACE were key in using AHDC (Aiming High Disabled Children) capital funding alongside Playbuilder funding to improve parks and play spaces across Essex.
Changing places - National work being done by Mencap- providing accessible changing places, Parents recommended that AHDC funding be used to increase the amount of changing places within Essex.
AHDC newsletters - FACE have been instrumental in ensuring information within the AHDC newsletter has all the information needed.
Early support training - Early Support Training is very important for families- empowering parents to support their child and work in partnership with the practitioners involved in their child's development.
CWD - Children With Disability Strategy Group - is a monthly meeting which brings practitioners from various departments within children services who have contact with and/or support families who have a disabled child.
