Umbrella Derby and Derbyshire

Umbrella is a charity that supports and empowers disabled children, young people and their families in Derby City and South Derbyshire.

We provide exciting, stimulating activities for children and young adults which encourage the development of skills, whilst having fun.

We give disabled children and young adults opportunities that non-disabled children take for granted.

Umbrella’s vision is to enable disabled children and young people to realise their full potential in an integrated society.

As a local charity, we are constantly growing and changing to meet the needs of local families with disabled children and young adults.

Umbrella provides services from a wide range of venues across Derbyshire. Umbrella House in Mackworth is used as a venue for a wide range of Umbrella services and activities including:

  • Family Support Service - information, advice, peer support groups, carer support and family fun events.

  • Early intervention service - in depth service for families with children with a new diagnosis or awaiting assessment.

  • Play and Leisure service - youth groups, sports, choir and trips.

  • Short breaks service
