CDC National Event - Putting Voice at the Heart of Strategic Commissioning

On the 2nd February 2023, CDC ran a national virtual event for SEND leads, DCO/DMOs and commissioners from across the country. The theme of the event was strategic co-production, and the aim was to update the sector, share knowledge and best practice and learn from each other. The main plenary session consisted of:

  • An update from the Department for Education on the SEND Improvement Plan (Alison Ismail, Director of SEND and AP)
  • A presentation from Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire ICB on their Keyworker Co-production project (Mark Hemmings, Head of Transformation (SEND) BNSSG ICB, Lindsay Cox, Senior Project Officer (LD&A) BNSSG ICB, Rachel Trueman, CEO & Director South Glos. Parent Carers, and Kenton Mee, Chair & CEO North Somerset Parent Carers Working Together)
  • A presentation from Rochdale Borough Council on their Co-production Journey (Charlotte Mitchell, Assistant Director for Integration and Health, Rochdale Local Authority/Heywood Middleton and Rochdale ICS and Carole Lindridge, Co-chair, Rochdale Parent Carer Voice)
  • An Overview of RISE Co-Production Support by (Philippa Watts, Programme Lead)

  8. Building co-production in challenging times, lessons learned in Haringey (Mary Jarrett, Head of Service, Integrated SEND, Haringey and Amanda Bernard: Chair of SEND Power, Haringey’s Parent Carer Forum)
