On Monday 22nd June 2026, the Council for Disabled Children (CDC) ran a national online event for Local Authority and Health SEND Leads, Commissioners, Designated Social Care Officers, Designated Medical Officers, Designated Clinical Officers, and NNPCF Regional Directors from across the country. The main plenary session consisted of:
- Welcome, introductions, and objectives for the event by Amanda Allard, Director of CDC.
- A presentation by Anna Barker, Deputy Director, Department for Education (DfE).
- A presentation by Dr Corinna Grindle, Senior Research Fellow, and Dr Jo Parsons, Assistant Professor of Health Science Research, University of Birmingham.
Attendees at the event were also given the opportunity to attend 2x workshops on a variety of topics. Please find the workshop recordings below:
- Strengthening SEND and Inclusion in Early Years: The North Tyneside Early Years Partnership (Maddy Kennedy, School Improvement Officer – Early Years, and Judith Rose, Early Years Inclusion Service Manager, North Tyneside Council).
- Alternative Provision in the context of SEND Reform (Adam Tedesco, Deputy Chief Executive, Olive Academies). Please note: this workshop took place during the PM session only.
- Delivering High Quality provision in Inclusion Bases: Principles and Practice (Ruth Pilling, Programme Lead, CDC).
- Resetting Relationships: Building the Conditions for Genuine Partnership (Jo Harrison, Co-Chair, NNPCF).
- From learning to lasting change: Barnet’s Journey from the CPP to the Specialist Support Vision – Experts at Hand (Kim Miller, Director of SEND and Inclusion, and Joann Moore, Co-Head for Specialist Services, Barnet Council).
- Embedding youth voice in local SEND systems: reflections on the What Works in SEND Youth Voice Learning Community (Dr Sam Baars, Head of Research and Insight, Isos Partnership).
- Supporting early language and literacy for children with SEND (Theresa Johnson, Programme Lead, Health, CDC). Please note: this workshop took place during the AM session only.
