Through the RISE contract, funded by the Department for Education, the Council for Disabled Children (CDC) conducted a SEND workforce survey, designed to understand workforce learning needs and identify key content for new training. One of the themes identified in the survey was an ‘Introduction to Health’ including:
- Introduction to Integrated Care Systems
- Roles, remits, and responsibilities – who is who and what do they do (at strategic, operational and individual level)
- Funding and commissioning responsibilities
This training is designed for and aimed at professionals working in the SEND system who would like to increase their knowledge of Health in the context of SEND. Please note: This training session is not suitable for DCOs.
Objectives
By the end of this training attendees will have an increased knowledge/understanding of:
- Health roles and remits
- What Integrated Care Systems (ICSs) are
- What ICSs, and their Integrated Care Strategies, mean for CYP with SEND
- ICS board and partnership structures and governance arrangements (inc. Provider collaborative understanding/place-based partnerships)
- The SEND framework including health specific duties for CYP
- Health regulation and inspection/ombudsman arrangements
- Health funding and commissioning responsibilities
- The NHS Workforce Strategy & Hewitt Review, and their link to SEND
- The link to the Liaison, Diversion & Autism/Mental Health programme.
