RISE Training Programme: January - March 2025
A Programme of National Training
Through the RISE contract, funded by the Department for Education, the Council for Disabled Children (CDC) conducted a SEND workforce survey, designed to understand workforce learning needs and identify key content for new training. CDC will deliver the below training sessions following what was raised in the survey.
The Role of Social Care in EHC Needs Assessments and Planning
One of the themes identified in the survey was the Role of Social Care in EHC needs assessments and planning.
This training is designed to increase knowledge and understanding of the role of social care in the Education, Health and Care (EHC) needs assessment and planning process, and discuss examples of social care needs and how to identify these.
This training is intended for social care practitioners, including social workers who are working with disabled children and young people and those with special educational needs
Objectives
· Understand the Education, Health and Care plan process and related social care legislation and case law.
· Understand the purpose of EHC plans in supporting disabled children and young people and those with SEN and their families.
· Understand the key stages of social care involvement in the EHC assessment and planning process and discuss examples of social care advice and information.
