Many early years settings have been covered by disability discrimination duties and this booklet sets the disability discrimination duties in the context of duties to all young children, set out in Early Years Foundation Stage.
This relates to the duties set out in Children and Families Act 2014 and this resource provides a short guide to what early years professionals need to know and do in order to address inequalities and to ensure they do not discriminate against disabled children. Also mentioned in the resource are how the requirements of Equality Act 2010 sit alongside other requirements on Early Years providers; they include:
- Requirements set out in the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage;
- Requirements in the Children and Families Act 2014 and the Special Educational Needs and Disability Code of Practice.
