4. Next steps
This part of the workshop is designed to support the development of an action plan to address some of the key issues identified through the review. An action planning framework can be found at the bottom of the page.
Some of the actions identified in this part of the workshop may be short term, such as setting up a meeting or disseminating information. More strategic issues may need to be incorporated into a wider local SEN and disability strategy or followed up with colleagues not represented at the workshop.
To confirm and to secure commitment to next steps, it is helpful to close the workshop with a quick round during which everyone can state one thing they are going to do as a next step.
The review and action planning parts of the workshop may helpfully be used as part of an ‘Action Learning Set’ approach, with colleagues reconvening to share learning, check progress and support each other in planning further steps in their action plans.
This part of the workshop will work differently depending whether it is a workshop for a number of local areas working together or for groups of colleagues from within one local area. In both cases, actions agreed at the workshop will need to be incorporated into local practice.
