Leah Madnick is an Occupational Therapist and the Head of Allied Health Professionals in Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) within West London Mental Health Trust.
She has worked across a variety of services and sectors, both within the UK and abroad, moving into CAMHS a couple of years ago. Previously completing the Darzi Fellowship Programme, she has facilitated Leadership Programmes for Occupational Therapists commissioned by the Elizabeth Casson Trust and has recently qualified as a Sensory Integration Practitioner.
She is passionate about supporting and developing staff, ensuring they are happy and satisfied within their role at work, and are managing their work life balance as well as taking care of themselves. Self-care results in the best care. Staff who feel valued and fulfilled create a positive working environment and provide excellent care.
She is excited to be part of the Steering Group within the Clinical Network as she believes CAMHS is an area which often falls into the gap between Children and Mental Health Services. CAMHS has been particularly difficult for AHPs to enter into with their core profession and she has been able to grow the AHP workforce within West London with innovative ideas and a huge amount of grit! She has also seen both the challenge and opportunity in working closely with colleagues from Children’s Services and believes that collaboration and innovation can have a significant impact in ensuring children, young people and families get the right care at the right time.
She thinks it is important to have a network which supports the sharing of information and knowledge around our diverse communities and the issues they face and well as ensuring the network represents all AHPs. She believes it is important to have representation and diversity within the steering group, as well as considering what content and information is presented within the network to support these aims.
I am looking forward to working, supporting and learning from colleagues across the network.
