Rainbow Trust supports families who have a child aged 0-18 years of age with a life threatening or terminal illness and need are in the greatest need.
Rainbow Trust Children's Charity Family Support Workers support the whole family, in a place of their choice. They are not a hospice. Rainbow Trust Children's Charity Family Support Workers go wherever they are needed to make life just a little bit easier, providing tailored and high-quality support to the whole family.
Support includes:
- Home support – Supporting families in their home, to help them through the ups and downs.
- Transport – To and from hospital, school drop-offs and outings.
- In hospital – This might be playing with the sick child and siblings, attending important appointments with parents, or giving parents a break from sitting at a bedside.
- Sibling support – Family Support Workers can help maintain a routine, make sure homework is done, hobbies are given time, and siblings have a safe outlet for their emotions.
- Bereavement support - Helping families come to terms with a child’s diagnosis, discuss options for end of life care, help families make funeral plans, and are there for them during bereavement.
